Why is KYC mandatory?
Under the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2064 and SSF's AML/CFT Policy/Procedure 2082, the Fund must verify the identity (KYC) of every contributor and employer. Under Regulation 2075 (rule 10), benefits can even be suspended until real identity is established.
[Required documents]Documents/details usually needed for KYC
- Citizenship certificate or passport (for those in foreign employment: passport + labour permit)
- Recent photo
- Bank account details (for payments)
- Contact details — mobile number and email
- Occupation/employment details
💡 The final list is as prescribed by SSF — incomplete or mismatched documents are the leading cause of rejected claims.
[Process]Profile Correction (fixing your name/details)
- Log in to SOSYS and check your profile details
- Identify any wrong details (name, date of birth, mobile, citizenship details)
- Submit a correction request with supporting documents
- If you have two SSNs, apply to the Fund to merge them into one
- Keep your nominee details up to date — in case of death, payment is made based on this information
[Process]General claim process
- Log in to SOSYS, choose Claim, and select the relevant scheme
- Fill in the form per the procedure's schedules (medical: Schedule 1/2, maternity: 3, accident: 4/5, dependent family: 6/7, pension: 8–10)
- Upload proof such as bills, prescriptions, and discharge summaries
- After SSF reviews and approves, the money comes directly to your bank account
- If rejected, check the reason, fix the documents, and resubmit; if still unsatisfied, you can appeal to the Labour Court within 35 days
💡 A workplace accident must be reported to the Fund within 7 days (message/email works) — otherwise the Fund will not cover more than Rs. 700,000 of costs at a non-contracted hospital.
